Former Miss USA 2023, Noelia Voigt — who had earlier stepped down from her title citing a “toxic environment” — has strongly condemned a senior Miss Universe 2025 executive following a widely circulated incident involving Mexico’s representative, Fátima Bosch.

The controversy unfolded in Thailand during a pre-pageant orientation session. Video clips show Nawat Itsaragrisil, a senior official from the organizing committee, openly confronting Fátima Bosch, alleging that she declined to take part in a sponsor-related photo session and referring to her as a “dummy.” In response, Bosch firmly defended herself, saying, “I have a voice… you are failing to respect me as a woman.”

Voigt expressed her full support for Bosch and the contestants who left the event in protest. On Instagram, she wrote, “I stand in complete solidarity with Fatima Bosch, Viktoria Kjær Theilvig, and all the remarkable women who walked out to oppose the unacceptable behaviour they witnessed.” She further noted that the incident mirrored her own experiences, where participants’ voices were ignored and their self-respect undermined.

Although Nawat Itsaragrisil later apologized, Voigt criticized the apology as “insincere” and demanded genuine accountability instead of superficial image repair. She stated, “Apologies mean little when they come only after being exposed. The world has already seen how you treat contestants—one can only imagine the words and actions that occur behind closed doors when you think no one is watching or questioning you.”

The Miss Universe Organization announced that it would send a senior delegation to Thailand to address the controversy and emphasize its dedication to ensuring respect, safety, and dignity for all contestants.

Meanwhile, Bosch clarified that her actions were guided by instructions from her national director. She explained that she refused to be treated like a “doll” merely for promotional purposes, adding, “I have a mission — I came here to represent women and girls who fight for meaningful causes,” during a video statement.

Miss Universe Contestant Confronts Pageant Organizer in Heated Exchange

The heated exchange went on for about four minutes before Itsaragrisil insulted Bosch by calling her a “dummy,” which infuriated many of the contestants present.

“I’m still addressing everyone — why do you keep standing up to talk to me?” Itsaragrisil asked.

“Because I have a voice,” Bosch responded. “You’re not showing me respect as a woman.”

When she refused to back down, Itsaragrisil instructed security to remove her from the room, prompting outrage among the participants.

“As women, you should respect us. I’m here representing my country, and it’s not my fault that you have issues with your organization,” Bosch said as she was being escorted out.

In support of Bosch, more than a dozen contestants — including the current Miss Universe, Victoria Kjær Theilvig — stood up and exited the room in protest.

“Sit down. Anyone who wants to stay in the competition, sit down,” Itsaragrisil said, issuing what sounded like a warning.

Speaking later to reporters, Bosch revealed that she was offended after Itsaragrisil allegedly called her “stupid” because of internal problems with the organization.

“I don’t think that’s fair,” she stated. “I’m doing everything right — I don’t cause trouble, I try to be kind, I give my best — and yet he told me to shut up.”

The incident has reignited discussions about how beauty pageants handle their participants, the existing power structures within such events, and whether organizations that advocate for women truly practice the values of empowerment and respect they promote. Voigt’s outspoken response highlights how former titleholders are increasingly using their influence to demand reform from within the pageant system.
